Department of Automation and Metrology
The Chair is heir to a number of organisational, research and teaching units, whose history dates back to the beginnings of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering.
In the field of metrology research and teaching activities were implemented by, among others, the Electrical Metrology Team (1967-1973), the Department of Automation and Measurements (1974-1984) led by Assoc. Prof. Kazimierz Majdiuk and Assoc. Prof. Tadeusz Latocha and the Chair of Electric and Electronic Metrology (1989-1998) led by Prof. Włodzimierz J. Krolopp.
Teaching and research in the field of broadly understood automation at the Electrical Faculty was conducted successively in the Automation, Electronics and Telemechanics Team (1967-1973), the Department of Automation and Measurements (1974-1984), the Department of Electronics and Automation (1984-1991) and the Chair of Electric Drives and the Chair of Automation (1991-1999). A lasting impression on the field was left by the late Assoc. Prof. T. Latocha and dr Czesław Dacka. Over the decades of their activity, a contribution was made by many other employees: S. Tarasiewicz (DEng), L. Kawęcki (DEng), Assoc. Prof. W. Wójcik (DEng), J. Laskowski (DEng), K. Tymburski (DEng), R. Rajczakowski (MEng), K. Russa (MEng), D. Szyszko (MEng) or B. Stańczyk (MEng).
The Chair of Automation and Metrology was established in 1998 as a consequence of joining the Chair of Electric and Electronic Metrology by a group of employees of the former Chair of Automatics, headed by Edward Żak (DEng).
The Chair of Automation and Metrology in 1998-2001 was headed by Assoc. Prof. Janusz Jaworski, DEng, in 2001-2002 by Assoc. Prof. Włodzimierz J. Krolopp, DEng, and then Assoc. Prof. Viktor Łozbin, DEng.
Since September of 2010, the Chair has been headed by dr hab. inż. (Assoc. Prof.) Jarosław Sikora, Professor of the Lublin University of Technology.
